Here's a sample XML report using the RFC2544 test option from the Etherscope and my Cisco 3550 Switch. And here's how to run a 2544 RFC test

TIPS

You should set your Power Options->Advanced to shut your unit down when you press the power button.  You should also ensure that the Power Options are NOT set for System Standby when plugged in.

If you've always wondered what other accessories you should have in your INA bag, click this link.

If you want to test your Optiview Web access type; http://127.0.0.1:8080/ovc

The default login id is admin and the default password is fnet

To test a remote PC, simply substitute the 127.0.0.1 with the remote PC's IP address.

If you need to copy files back and forth from your INA and do not have a network connection, use an USB drive or a cross over Ethernet cable.

Just in case you would like to use an AC adapter for your Nettool;

Voltage - 7.5V Output

Wattage - 10W

Pin Polarity - Center Positive, Center is 7.5V, Outside is RTN

When you use a NetTool to ping another device, the data payload has the following text, “Jamie & Ted’s Excellent Adventure”.

What does a frozen window mean?  Click here.

When an Optiview pings a device the data payload of the packet contains, "Hello, is anybody home?."

Bugs

The Etherscope will erroneously report an error even if the transfer finishes successfully. Trace File

Just noticed that if you double click a trace file an analysis trace file is created in the trace file directory. Problem is that if you created any "Mapped ports", they are essentially lost since they are in the analysis.ini file that resides in the application directory

When querying the INA via a SNMP browser, the InOctets and OutOctets do not increment and stay at zero.

Brad M

The CDP counter incorrectly reports 0.  Use the Protocol Distribution Chart instead.

When looking at the packet detail of an ICMP packet the "Identifier" is incorrectly labeled as "Identified".
